Lyle Waters Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 This is driving me nuts. The knocking or better clunking noise appears to come from the passenger side either in the footwell or the engine compartment. It occurss when driving over small bumps in the road or over speedramps - rare when i'm on my own but add a passenger and every bump produces results. Have found markings on the battery cover that suggests rubbing knocking and also a few loose bolts in the same area (water bottle) but removing the cover and tightning the nuts changes nothing. Dunno if this sort of thing is covered by the warantee,, Quote
Guest fredt Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 Could be the anti roll bar drop links? common cause of noises in that area Quote
Guest EVSS Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 as said we had same problem, on your own not noticeable. put a passenger in and hey presto. funnily not so noticeable at speed. changed the antirollbar links and cured nice and quiet (well) gary Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 Sounds just like the problem I had when I bought mine (second-hand) - drop links almost certainly. Quote
Guest blatters Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 Mine too. Drop links after about 11k. Most audible at speeds up to 35mph especially over ribbed road surfaces. Dealer said he couldn't hear it when I first booked it in. But I took the mechanic for a run and pointed it out. I had the same sound in a Vectra and that's how I knew it was something easy to repair. To be fair to the dealer, the minute the mechanic had picked up on the (really annoying) noise they sorted it out and replaced both (they didn't know which side had failed). Done under warranty and I guess your's would be too as it's an '03 car? Regards, Blatters  Quote
Lyle Waters Posted December 6, 2004 Author Report Posted December 6, 2004 Got it booked in for next week - unless its dangerous. Quote
